At AlamoCare Adult Activity Center, our staff includes our director who is responsible for the overall management of the day activity and health services program. The activities director is responsible for planning and directing the daily program of activities. The activities director must meet qualifications listed in §98.62(a)(3), Program Requirements, concerning staff qualifications. We also have a facility nurse who is on site at all times as well as an RN consultant at least four hours per week. Our facility nurse is responsible for assessing the individual’s initial and continued medical needs, help with developing an individual’s plan of care, etc. We also have attendants who must be present on site whenever there is one individual present in our care. To help assist our clients get to and from various locations, we also have a driver who provides transportation.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Elizabeth Leal has always had a special affinity for helping others. She grew up one of thirteen children in the Westside of San Antonio. Education has always been a significant part of Elizabeth’s life. In her teenage years, she was unable to complete her high school degree because she had to turn her focus toward caring for her family. However, she returned to school in 1993 and received her G.E.D. A year later, in 1994, Elizabeth’s parents both passed away. She decided to devote herself to advocating for proper healthcare for the elderly and began her career as a home health aide. Her passion for the field led Elizabeth to found her own healthcare facilities that would make a positive impact on San Antonio’s elderly community. Elizabeth opened is the owner of Alamocare Health Services. Elizabeth dedicates herself to influencing others to improve healthcare for the elderly. She actively supports prevention of elderly abuse and works on initiatives in this regard around the city. She is involved and connected in community programs and events, as well as a member of several local San Antonio community and corporate organizations.
The youngest daughter of Elizabeth Leal, Lisa has followed in her mother’s footsteps of passion for the elderly and disabled. Upon graduating from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008, she became the Director of Alamocare Health Services. In that time, Lisa had been honored with the Living Proof Award by the University Health Systems and the Elder Care Advocate SAHA Silver Award. Additionally, Lisa has been an involved member with the Cystitis Fibrosis Foundation, the Adult Day Care Association of Texas and the San Antonio Alumnae Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity. In 2014, Lisa graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was able to extern at CentroMed. Licensed by the Texas State Bar, she then served as a policy analyst for a Texas State Senator during the 84R Session, where she helped to staff her Senator on many health care related issues, including having a hand in the creation of a bill passed in regards to Adult Day Activity Centers. Going on to work for the Office of the Attorney General and then starting her own small legal practice, Lisa still has a place in her heart for her true passion of health care and helping those in need, especially by continuing her position at Alamocare Health Services, Inc.
Registered Nurse (RN)
The oldest daughter of Elizabeth Leal, Melissa has pursued in her mother’s footsteps. In 2003, Melissa graduated from San Antonio College with a degree in Nursing and Applied Science and serving as the Registered Nurse at Alamocare Health Services, Inc. She has had over 2 decades of work in health care. Melissa then began working at a local hospital as a staff registered nurse on the Oncology floor. She then returned to Alamocare Health Services, Inc. as the Registered Nurse. Melissa continues to make every employee and client a priority, while being the proud mother of 5 children.
